Exploring Toyosu Senkyaku Banrai: Edo-Style Food Market Next to Toyosu Fish Market

Looking for a taste of traditional Japan in modern Tokyo? Just a few steps from Toyosu Market, the brand-new Senkyaku Banrai (千客万来) offers a lively food and shopping experience inspired by the charm of old Edo. I visited this weekend and had a sweet time—literally!

What is Senkyaku Banrai?

Opened in February 2024, Senkyaku Banrai is a bustling Edo-style market complex adjacent to the famous Toyosu Fish Market. With its wooden architecture, lanterns, and vibrant storefronts, it feels like stepping into a historical town filled with modern culinary treasures.

This place is packed with:

  • Fresh seafood restaurants using ingredients straight from the market
  • Charcoal-grilled shellfish shops and sushi spots
  • Unique ramen with seafood toppings
  • Japanese-style dessert cafes and teahouses

It’s already become a major stop for bus tours, and when I visited, it was full of both international and domestic tourists.

A Sweet Stop at Hamakaze Sabo

My main goal this time? Japanese sweets!

I visited a lovely café called Hamakaze Sabo (濱風茶房), which specializes in desserts made with high-quality Yame tea from Fukuoka. Their lineup includes soft-serve ice cream, matcha mont blanc cakes, and more.

I tried the Matcha-Vanilla Mixed Soft Serve, and it was the perfect blend—the bitterness of the matcha balanced beautifully with the smooth sweetness of vanilla.

  • Price: ¥600 (surprisingly reasonable compared to some “tourist-priced” stores!)
  • Next time, I’d love to try their Matcha Mont Blanc.

Tips for Visiting

  • Located right by Shijomae Station (市場前駅) on the Yurikamome Line
  • Best visited in the morning or early afternoon to avoid heavy crowds
  • Come hungry—there are so many things to try!

Senkyaku Banrai is a perfect mix of local flavor, cultural design, and foodie heaven. Whether you’re a sushi lover or a matcha fan, there’s something here for everyone.

I’ll definitely be going back again!
