One-Day Toyosu Family Itinerary: TeamLab Planets, Senkyaku Banrai, Toyosu Park & Bay Views
If you’re visiting Tokyo with kids, chances are you’ve already heard of TeamLab Planets.
Many visitors come to Toyosu for TeamLab and leave immediately afterward. As a local resident, I think that’s a missed opportunity.
With TeamLab Planets, Toyosu Market, Senkyaku Banrai, family-friendly parks, waterfront shopping, and beautiful Tokyo Bay views all within walking distance, Toyosu is one of the easiest places in Tokyo to enjoy a full day with your family.
Local Tip: If possible, visit on a weekday. TeamLab Planets and Senkyaku Banrai can become very crowded on weekends and public holidays.
Recommended Route for Most Families
This is the itinerary I usually recommend to friends visiting Tokyo with children.
9:00 AM – TeamLab Planets
11:30 AM – Senkyaku Banrai & Lunch
2:00 PM – Toyosu Park
4:00 PM – Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu
Sunset – Tokyo Bay Waterfront & Rainbow Bridge Views
The schedule is relaxed, easy to follow, and doesn’t require an early start.
9:00 AM – Start Your Day at TeamLab Planets
Begin your Toyosu adventure at TeamLab Planets, one of Tokyo’s most popular attractions.
Unlike a traditional museum, TeamLab invites visitors to walk through water, interact with digital artworks, and experience immersive installations using all five senses.
Families often enjoy:
- Interactive digital experiences
- Large-scale visual installations
- Unique photo opportunities
- Indoor attractions that work in any weather
Tip: Book your tickets in advance. Popular time slots can sell out, especially during weekends, holidays, and school vacation periods. Having tickets ready will make your day much smoother.

11:30 AM – Enjoy Lunch at Senkyaku Banrai
After TeamLab, walk over to Senkyaku Banrai, Toyosu’s newest attraction.
Designed to recreate the atmosphere of an Edo-period town, this lively complex offers fresh seafood, Japanese street food, souvenirs, and waterfront views.
It’s a great place to:
- Try fresh sushi and seafood
- Sample Japanese snacks
- Browse local specialty stores
- Take a break before the afternoon activities
Many visitors focus only on TeamLab, but Senkyaku Banrai has quickly become one of Toyosu’s most popular destinations.
If you’re visiting on a weekday, you’ll generally find the experience much more enjoyable than on weekends, when the area can become extremely crowded.

Many visitors confuse Toyosu Market and Senkyaku Banrai because they’re located right next to each other.
The difference is simple:
- Toyosu Market is the actual wholesale fish market where seafood trading takes place.
- Senkyaku Banrai is a visitor-focused dining and shopping complex built beside the market.
If you’re interested in Japanese food culture, both are worth seeing.
Optional Upgrade for Early Risers
If you’re a serious seafood enthusiast, consider arriving much earlier and visiting Toyosu Market before TeamLab.
The famous tuna auctions and wholesale market activities begin very early in the morning. Some visitors arrive around 5:00 AM to experience the market at its most active.
Personally, I don’t think most families need to start their day this early. You’ll still have a great experience following the standard itinerary above.
However, for food lovers, this can be a unique addition to your Toyosu day.
2:00 PM – Relax at Toyosu Park
After lunch, head to Toyosu Park.
This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood because it offers something surprisingly rare in Tokyo: space.
After the crowds and excitement of TeamLab and Senkyaku Banrai, the park provides a welcome change of pace.
Highlights include:
- Playground equipment
- Open grassy areas
- Beautiful bay views
- A relaxed family-friendly atmosphere
Children can run around freely while parents enjoy the waterfront scenery.

4:00 PM – Take a Break at Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu
By late afternoon, many families appreciate a slower pace.
LaLaport Toyosu is a convenient place to:
- Grab coffee or snacks
- Rest indoors
- Enjoy some shopping
- Escape the heat or rain
It’s also a practical stop if younger children need a break before continuing the day.
Sunset – Enjoy Tokyo Bay’s Beautiful Waterfront
As evening approaches, head back toward the waterfront.
Toyosu offers some of the most beautiful bay views in Tokyo, especially around sunset.
On clear evenings, you can enjoy:
- Rainbow Bridge
- Tokyo Bay
- Illuminated city skylines
- Passing boats and ships
Compared with some of Tokyo’s more famous sightseeing areas, the atmosphere here feels calmer and less crowded.
For me, this is one of the most underrated experiences in Tokyo Bay.

Toyosu is compact, easy to navigate, and packed with attractions that appeal to both adults and children.
A single day is enough to experience:
- TeamLab Planets
- Fresh seafood and local food culture

- Shopping and cafés
- Tokyo Bay’s beautiful waterfront scenery
Many first-time visitors are surprised by how much there is to do within walking distance.
Final Thoughts
Most tourists visit Toyosu for TeamLab Planets and leave right afterward.
I recommend staying a little longer.
By combining TeamLab, Senkyaku Banrai, Toyosu Park, and the waterfront into a single day, you’ll experience a side of Tokyo that feels more relaxed, spacious, and family-friendly than many of the city’s better-known tourist districts.
If you’re traveling with kids, Toyosu might end up being one of your favorite days in Tokyo.
